"A movement that must belong to everyone": Marine Tondelier warns against the "co-optation" of the September 10 movement

This is Marine Tondelier's fear: seeing the September 10 movement hijacked by political figures. Speaking to us this Friday, August 22, the national secretary of the Ecologists called for "a movement that must belong to everyone," stating that "we must respect the fact that every French person has their place" within this initiative. "I hate hijacking," she continues.
For her, the success of the movement will be judged by "the number of French people who participate." And a possible political recovery could "block some" from taking the plunge and taking part in this day of demonstration.
On BFMTV, Marine Tondelier reiterated her "support" for this initiative, listing the "reasons for the French to be angry," citing the "ecological setbacks of this government" and "tax breaks for the richest." Faced with "rising anger" and "general fed-up feeling," Marine Tondelier warned that "the pressure cooker is under a lot of pressure."

In an interview with Libération this Wednesday, the national secretary of the Ecologists already called for people to register "with respect" for this day of September 10.
"There's no question of spoiling everything by organizing a flag-counting competition or making the demonstrators uncomfortable because they would feel like they're following in the footsteps of this or that presidential candidate," she cautiously explained to our colleagues.
Earlier in the day, the founder of La France Insoumise , Jean-Luc Mélenchon, called for a "general strike," arguing in favor of "a day of general blockade."
"Citizens' assemblies have been created and more will be created," declared Jean-Luc Mélenchon, during the party's summer university in Châteauneuf-sur-Isère, regarding this protest movement, whose outlines are still unclear.
Born on social media, the "Block Everything" movement, calling for a mobilization on September 10, has received support from La France Insoumise, the Greens, the Communists, and then the Socialists. Several unions, including the CGT and Force Ouvrière, will hold internal meetings next week to decide on actions, while several union federations have joined the call to "block everything" on September 10.
